Homework for 2012 Spring Semester
The syllabuses under the syllabus tab have all the assignments for the semester. The assignments on the syllabus titled Terms, SRQs, Blue Boxes, and Chapter Review odds are the Homework assignments. Instructions for the homework assignments are as follows:
Terms
The textbook is divided into units. Each unit is divided into chapters. Each chapter is divided into sections. Each secton has terms printed in boldface italics. For all the terms in each section, Write the term, underline the term, then write the definition of the term after the underlined term. Do not underline the definition, just the term.
SRQs
At the end of each section there is a set of questions called "Section Review". SRQ stands for "Section Review Questions". After the student completes the Terms portion of the homework, the student then answers the section review questions. The questions do not need to be written; just the answers.
Blue Boxes
Some sections have practice problems that are presented inside squared-off sections that are colored blue; these are called "Blue Boxes".
Blue box assignments are part of the section's homework and are to be submitted along with the Terms and SRQs for that section. Again, the student does not need to write the practice problem but must show all the work required to solve the problem.
Chapter Review odds
At the end of each chapter are review questions and sometimes problems. The student is to answer the odd numbered questions and do the odd numbered problems if any. The student does not need to write the questions nor problems, just the answers.
Note:
Homework Terms, SRQs, Blue Boxes, and Chapter Review odds are to hand-written on lined paper, or graph paper where appropriate, using pencil. Points are deducted for work done in pen ink; double points if the ink is red.
Extra points are rewarded for work that is neat, organized, meticulus, etc.
Terms, SRQs, and Blue Boxes from the same section can be written on the same paper but each section must be submitted separetly as well as the chapter review odds.
Homework submitted that is typed will be rejected unless previously approved by the teacher.
All homework, as with all assignments whether typed or handwritten, is to be properly labeled according to the following format:
Student's Full name and folder # in upper right-hand corner of the paper.
The name of the assignment, as it appears on the syllabus, in the upper left-hand corner of the paper.
